A simple wish
Dedicated to all those who have lost the ability to stand, walk, hug, move freely and make physical contact with others.
May I lay my head on your shoulder,
Take the weight if you can bear,
May I lay my head on your shoulder,
Just standing there?
In old jeans and a T-shirt,
Feet planted on the ground,
May I lay my head on your shoulder,
Arms wrapped round?
In that old narrow kitchen,
Right beside the back door,
May I lay my head on your shoulder,
Once more?
Standing upright, muscles softened,
In all simplicity,
May I lay my head on your shoulder,
To eternity?
